Dear CACNY Members;

The annual CACNY elections for officers and board members has begun. The voting will conclude during the Big Game at 10 pm on Saturday, November 18th, 2017.

The following people have been nominated for the positions listed:

2017 CACNY Elections Candidate List

Wilken Yu
Former CACNY Treasurer
It's time for Cal to level up in New York! To level us up, I plan to:
1) Strengthen CACNY's branding through social media, web, and partnerships.
2) Foster community through social and networking events.
3) Increase membership.
4) Encourage members to innovate and lead through industry/interest groups.
5) Increase partnerships with other Cal groups such as Haas and BABNY.

As a former CACNY Treasurer, I bring experience to the Presidency and will work closely with the board to level us up.

Sonia Sanchez
CACNY President
I am the current CACNY president and would like to continue the work of growing our group and presence in NYC through a variety of events (happy hours, football viewing parties, sports events, speaking engagements, panels, etc). This last year had our fullest calendar and largest increase in attendees -- we've seen a lot of growth in the past few years, but there's still so much work to be done!

Vice President

Tyler Adams
CACNY Board Member
I would like to build and grow the CACNY community. Events are a way to bring Cal Alums together. Therefore, as VP, I commit to encouraging participation by facilitating event planning and organization.

Steve Mintz
Fellow Metro Area Bears --
After 2 years of being a CACNY a board member I'm now looking forward to leveraging that experience by serving as Vice President of the club.
As you all must know - Sonia Sanchez has done an outstanding job as chapter president -- It has been a pleasure working with her. I'm now looking for your support in this year's election. As VP you can count on me to be there as a dedicated resource to Sonia and all the other chapter board members.
But most important is my focus on being a responsive representative for you.
I'll keep working as a member of the tech team and events committee, but I'm going to make a special effort to further the CACNY mission to provide members with open channels for sharing ideas for improving and expanding club activities and services.
That's my pitch for some of the admin things where I can contribute. But as we all know CACNY is a great platform for socializing and connecting with others who have been lucky enough to have had the UCB experience. You can count on me and the other board members to work to make sure that we continue to keep the momentum going on that front.
Looking forward to getting to know more of you personally ... I'll be the tall guy in a Berkeley tank top at Saturday's event.
My best ! / GoBears !!

Garry Parton
CACNY Treasurer
I would like to complete a second year as treasurer so that I can complete putting in fiscal reporting systems. I have been a member of CACNY for over 20 years, a CAA member and former CAA board member. Please support my candidacy for the CACNY Treasurer position.

Lauren Keyson
CACNY Communications Director
If no one wants to take over doing the newsletter then I will continue to do so, otherwise if someone really wants to take it over, that’s cool with me too.

Jim Williams
CACNY Board Member
I have been an active member of the Cal Alumni Club of New York for the past 15 years. I have held each of the officer's positions during that time. I am grateful for the experiences that I have gained at Cal and as part of CACNY. I look forward to continuing to give back to the place that gave me such an invaluable education. Go Bears!

Kathy Yamato
CACNY Board Member
I have been involved with CACNY since I moved to NY in 1995 and have held almost all officer positions except the Treasurer. I would like to continue to be a part of the CACNY board with my 22 years of experience to help further the CACNY mission.

If you are a current CACNY member (have paid your annual dues in the past 12 months), please cast your vote.
